Alan Jackson may have been suffering from a medical condition, but he assured fans that he is still active in music and hoping to release new material in the near future.
The musician recently spoke to the “In Joy Life with Mattie Jackson” podcast to reveal his plans in the future regarding new music, saying he may not have toured recently, but his creativity “jumps out every now and then.”
Speaking about his music writing process, he told the host, who’s her 32-year-old daughter, that he’s always “always scribbling down ideas and thinking about melodies and I feel like there’ll be some more music to come, yes.” (via People Magazine)
As of this writing, there is no formal announcement about an upcoming single or album, but if ever he releases new music, it would be his first project since announcing that he’s suffering from a major health condition.
In 2021, the country singer spoke to TODAY and revealed that he had been dealing with a medical problem for the past ten years, saying he had been diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
“I’ve been reluctant to talk about this publicly and to my fans, but it’s been a while, and it’s starting to affect my performance on stage a little bit where I don’t feel comfortable,” he told Jenna Bush Hager.

The reason why he publicly revealed his health struggles was because he didn’t want fans to think he’s drunk on stage whenever he performs as he’s having a hard time dealing with his mobility and balance.
Alan Jackson isn’t the first person in his family to suffer from the illness as his late father was also diagnosed with the same condition, as well as his paternal grandmother and older sister.
According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, as reported by the outlet, the singer’s medical condition has no cure, but it’s manageable through therapy. It affects over 2.6 million people around the world.
Fortunately for the musician, the condition hasn’t affected his voice. At the time, he was hoping to record more music and perform as long as he could do it.
Despite publicly announcing his health setback, Jackson said he didn’t want pity from his supporters, he just wants them to understand what he was going through while performing on stage differently.
