Corey Taylor is gearing up ahead of the release of his new solo album.
NME recently released exclusive photos of Taylor’s recording sessions as he finishes his upcoming album, titled, “CMF2.” It serves as the follow-up to his 2020 album, “CFMT.”
In an accompanying interview with the news outlet, the 49-year-old “Before I Forget” rocker teased fans with details about his music project. According to Taylor, “CMF2” is “going to be the best rock album of this year, and the next.”
Expressing his desire to see his fans listen to his album, the singer said, “It chews up that first record and spits it out. It’s more dialed-in with everything people expect from me, so it’s got hints of ‘CMFT’ but there are also hints of Slipknot, Stone Sour and all the stuff I’ve done in my acoustic shows. It’s got everything for everybody. People are going to f**king lose it.”
Taylor added that the “darker, heavier” songs in the album are among those he wrote throughout his career. With that, fans will reportedly recognize some of those.
While he is inspired by his band, Slipknot, in creating the record, Corey said that the reaction people offered to “CFMT” also helped him create a new album.
The “Duality” singer previously shared the same sentiment in a video update on Twitter earlier this year.
At that time, he revealed that the album “sounds better” and “runs better.”
Corey Taylor Talks About Debut’s Success
While he already looks forward to the success of his new album, Taylor also looked back at the feat his debut solo album savored.
Taylor explained that the milestone pushed him to run further, adding that the trust from fans made him feel better and more inspired.

Taylor’s “CMFT” contains 13 tracks and one Japanese bonus track. Among the songs include “HWY 666,” “Black Eyes Blue,” “Meine Lux,” “Halfway Down,” “Everybody Dies on My Birthday,” “The Maria Fire,” and “Samantha’s Gone.”
As for his upcoming album, he and his band – Eliot Lorango, Dustin Robert, Christian Martucci and Zach Throne – reportedly gave themselves four days to rehearse the 26 songs they wanted to record for the album. However, not all of them will make it to the album.
As of press time, Taylor tentatively plans to release “CFM2” first single, “Beyond,” with Cherry Bombs.
“We’re aiming for an eventual September release that’ll fall in the middle of a tour we’re plotting now. Obviously, the best way to make God laugh is to announce your plans though,” he went on.
