A month into 2023, and he’s already winning-Drake is officially the king of Spotify.
The Canadian rapper was named the very first artist to achieve over 75 billion streams on the music streaming platform, reports say.
Drake celebrated the incredible achievement with his followers on Instagram, and added a little suggestion at the end: “We should get bonuses like athletes to motivate the future artists to be consistent and competitive…so feel free to send me a Lebron-sized cheque I have enough dinner plates.”

The “Rich Flex” rapper is no stranger to setting records on Spotify; according to Entertainment Tonight Canada, Drake’s song “One Dance” became the first song to reach a billion streams back in 2016. He was also named the most-streamed artist of that year.
This back-to-back feat was continuously done throughout the rest of his career: in 2017, he was the first artist to have 10 billion streams, then in 2021, he got 50 billion streams, then was named the most-streamed artist of all time on Spotify.
That’s probably why Drake is so set on cashing in on the milestones he receives from the music streaming platform.

Spotify Bonus +Drake’s Net Worth
Drake’s success on Spotify can be attributed to his most recent releases, which garnered much attention and were generally well-received by fans and critics alike.
According to Billboard, Drake’s featured songs like “Jimmy Cooks,” “Circo Loco, “We Caa Done,” “Staying Alive,” and “Wait for U” performed undeniably well both on the music streaming platform and on the charts.
Fans cannot get enough of Drake, and it really shows. In fact, most of the songs from his recently released joint album with 21 Savage, “Her Loss,” peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The massive success in streams of the rapper’s music on Spotify has already generated some income, and given that he is consistently the most streamed artist, he has received a hefty sum from the platform throughout the years.
According to reports, Drake has amassed an estimated $260 million net worth as of 2023, and he receives about $70 million per year!
Spotify notes that musicians will have to have over 250 streams before they can get a payout of about $0.0003 and $0.005 per stream, the Business Insider reported.
Although it should also be noted that this payout will be divided further among the artist, their label, and so on.
On the other hand, musicians who aren’t as popular aren’t too keen on the idea of bonuses.
“Can we just get a better percentage on streams?” a Twitter user wrote.
“What are unknown artists called?” Another added.
“Sir they can’t even pay us a penny per stream lmfao.”
