Remembering Jeff Beck
Beck died in January after contracting a bacterial meningitis. His death sent shockwaves in the rock band community, who looked up to him as one of the most prominent and talented guitarists in the world.
He rose to prominence as a member of the Yardbirds, then he eventually forged his own path with the Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Bogert & Appice.
Out of all the artists who mourned Beck’s death, Clapton was the most vocal and he seemed really distraught by his friend’s passing.
Despite growing close over the years, Clapton admitted that this was not always the case between them,
“To be honest, I wanted to be as critical of him as I could,” he revealed, however, somewhen along the way, he and Beck became thick as thieves.
“I always tuned in to Jeff, all through my life,” Clapton added.
Meanwhile, Beck also had nothing but great things to say about the musician.
“I didn’t have the luxury of hit songs Eric’s got,” Beck once joked, but he also noted that many people “made comparisons” between them.
However, it was their passion and love for music as well as their enduring friendship that drowned out the noise.
“In the case of me and Eric, we just played the music that made us happy. That was the quest.”
According to reports, ickets to Beck’s tribute concert will go on sale on Mar. 15 at 10 am GMT, while the pre-sale will go live on Mar. 14 at the same time.
