“Saturday Night Live” just announced that they will have rapper Lil Yachty as their musical guest next week as “Abbott Elementary” actress Quinta Brunson will serve as the show’s host.
Last Friday, Jenna Ortega rocked her “SNL” debut with The 1975 as their musical guest.
However, the upcoming episode is still on the rocks as The Hollywood Reporter’s source revealed that a potential strike would take place on the same day over pay and benefits.
“NBCU has refused fair compensation, refused to commit to maintaining existing health benefits, & refused to show SNL’s post crew the respect they deserve,” the union said in a statement. “NBCU wants to shut us up – so we will yell louder. Plan to join us on the picket line April 1st.”
Brunson and Yachty will perform on April 1, 2023, the show’s April Fools episode.
Brunson is making a clean sweep on “Abbott Elementary” as they rack up wins for the show on almost all comedy nominations during the 2023 Awards season.

“Abbott Elementary” won last year’s Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Comedy Series, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, among many others.
As for Yachty, he will be performing at the Billboard Presents The Stage at SXSW on Mar. 16, 2023, Billboard reports.
Yachty will most likely be performing tracks from his new album, “Let’s Start Here,” with 36,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. It debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. It has also accumulated more than 41 million on-demand streams and 4,000 album copies on its debut week.
“Let’s Start Here is exciting at the first listen because the style is new to Lil Yachty himself. Alas, the shiny sheen of new experiences tends to dull over time and with repetition,” HipHopDX gave a review of his album.
Meanwhile, Rolling Stone praised Lil Yachty for her ambitiousness on his new album.
“The rapper and musician’s ambitious left-turn incorporates experimental rock and jazz with near-flawless execution, arriving at something that feels genuinely brand-new,” the review reads.
